along with the water consumption information shown on the front side of the bill, they can actually calculate their own water bill.  Additionally, the back side of the water bill

contains information about making water bill payments,

including a long list of locations throughout the City of Kenosha where payments can be made in person, for those customers who still prefer paying their bills in person.  For those who wish to pay their bills electronically or simply drop them in one of our convenient drop boxes, this information is also contained on the back side of the bill.

Changes that have been made to the back side of the bill include the new sewerage service rates and information

describing how the new storm water fee is calculated.

Additionally, a new payment location, Uptown Pantry, has been added.  For more information pertaining to the Water Utility, customers can check us out on the web using the link, www.kenoshawater.org, shown on the back side of the bill.  For many of us, change is not an easy thing, but the changes shown above are intended to provide as much useful

information as possible to our valued Water Utility customers.

Text Box: Information pertaining to new storm water fees is shown in these locations.

At first glance you might not notice much of a difference, but when water bills begin arriving in January of next year, they will have a slightly different look to them.  These changes are due in large part to the new storm water fee that is being collected by the Water Utility on behalf of the new Storm Water Utility.  The Storm Water Utility was created by the City of Kenosha as a means of complying with the more stringent State and Federal requirements for

discharging storm water runoff into surrounding streams, rivers and lakes.  Another cause for changing the information contained on the bills is the sanitary sewer rate increase, which goes into effect beginning in January.  As mentioned previously,  this rate has not been increased since 1995.

Referring to the two figures shown above, changes made to the front side of the bill all pertain to the new storm water fee.  The back side of the bill is literally crammed full with useful information.  Some customers may not be aware that with the information contained on the back side of the bill

Unpaid Bills a Lien on Property

Unpaid water, sewerage or storm water utility bills become a lien on the property served and are added to the tax roll as provided in Sections 62.69 (2)(f) and 66.0821 (4)(d) of the Wisconsin Statutes.

STORM WATER UTILITY (SWU)

SWU charges consist of a fixed base fee (charged to all parcels) and a variable fee based on EHU’s. An EHU is an Equivalent Hydraulic Unit, which represents a rate of water runoff, approximately 0.35 cubic feet per second (157 gallons per minute), from a typical residential property due to a high intensity storm.
