GIS

GIS MAP

GIS (Geographic Information System) is the result of electronically produced maps layered on top of one another with the ability to create queries and retrieve information about the given area.

What is GIS to us? Although GIS has been in practice since the early 60’s it has only been a part of KWU since 1993. From our first GIS application to our current system today, many aspects have significantly changed. One example is the ability to produce detailed maps, concentrating on any aspect of the water utilities records, in a short period of time. Another is the ability to gather field information with the touch of a button. Combined with user friendly software and trained professionals, GIS has become a key factor in engineering for the Water Utility.
